The Cardiovascular System is an essential part of the human body that controls almost all other functions of the body. It comprises of the heart and the blood vessels. The heart usually pumps blood in the system while the blood vessels distribute the blood to all other parts of the human body.

The Cardiovascular System is also made up of arteries which have the function of carrying blood loaded with nutrients away from the heart to various parts of the body. In the system, the blood flows like a river. The arteries have the responsibility to determine the course of the flow per time. By way of description, arteries showcase as thick-walled tubes with unique circular coverings that are yellowish in color. The capillaries come together to form small veins which flow into the larger veins. They have the responsibility of delivering deoxygenated blood back to the heart.

In the Cardiovascular System, the veins have thick and slack walls. Reddish blue blood usually flows through the veins as it moves through the lungs on its way back to the heart for the purpose of re-oxygenation. In the heart, the veins usually extend into the pulmonary arteries located at the right hand side of the heart.

In more clear terms, the Cardiovascular System can be seen as special organ system that allows the circulation of blood and other nutrients such as electrolytes, lymph and amino acids. It also allows the circulation of hormones, gasses, blood cells and other nutrients. The system carries out all these functions for the purpose of keeping the body in top healthy shape. It helps a lot in maintaining the body temperature and blood pressure level at all times.

In a stricter sense, the Cardiovascular System can be viewed as a blood circulation network. It has the responsibility of distributing blood to various sections of the body through its essential components. Basically, human beings have closed Cardiovascular System.This kind of system doesn’t permit blood to leave the network of veins, arteries and capillaries. The blood keeps rotating within these tissues of the system. But in some other animals especially the invertebrates, the open cardiovascular system is obtainable.

Meanwhile, there are two major fluids that move through the Cardiovascular System. They include blood and the lymph liquid. Basically, the blood vessels, blood fluid and the heart form the cardiovascular system while the lymph, lymph vessels and lymph nodes make up the lymphatic system. Both the cardiovascular and lymphatic system come together to make up the complete circulatory system.

In the lives of humans, the Cardiovascular System is basically made up of the blood, the heart and the blood vessels. It also includes the pulmonary circulation which showcases as a loop that passes through the lungs where the blood fluid is oxygenated. The system also comprises of the systematic circulation which also forms a loop that passes through the remaining parts of the human body for the provision of oxygenated blood.

In the life of an average adult, there are 5 to 6 quarts of blood. These comprise of red blood cells, plasma, platelets and the white blood cells. Again, the digestive system in humans also works with the circulatory system for the provision of the nutrients required for the upkeep of the heart and its pumping action.

Meanwhile the Cardiovascular System on a wider note also comprises of pulmonary circulation, systematic circulation, Coronary Circulation and the heart. The pulmonary circulation is the portion of the entire cardiovascular system that allows the pumping of the de-oxygenated blood away from the heart. This is often carried out through the pulmonary artery down to the lungs where the blood is oxygenated and in turn returned back to the heart through the pulmonary vein.

The systematic circulation refers to the portion of Cardiovascular System that allows the transportation of oxygenated blood away from the heart to other parts of the blood. It also returns de-oxygenated blood back to the heart.

The Coronary Circulation system normally provides adequate oxygenated blood supply to the heart.The heart on its side has the function of pumping de-oxygenated blood to the lungs and oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.The human heart comprises of one atrium and one ventricle which help in the circulation of blood. It also has four solid chambers namely, the left atrium, right atrium, left ventricle and right ventricle.The right atrium makes up the upper chamber of the right hand side of the heard. Usually deoxygenated blood is normally returned to the right atrium.
