Hypoglycaemia or Type 2 Diabetes, as it is generally known, occurs when the blood sugar drops to a low for diabetics, which is generally below 70 mg – dl. Patients do not realize they are in a condition because the symptoms come on suddenly. At this point, it is essential to take quick action.

Diabetics should be constantly alert regarding this condition especially if they experience symptoms and signs that can be worked upon before the situation worsens. Each patient reacts differently to this situation. Some people start shaking uncontrollably, feel an increased rate of palpitations, experience severe hunger pangs, start feeling weak and irritable, have blurred vision or feel dizzy and suffer headaches. You should figure out a pattern, in your food intake habits to ensure that your blood sugar levels do not drop alarmingly. Keep a check on the times this occurs and the amount of work you have put in, before each regiment. Try to limit your intake of chocolates, cakes, candies, cheese, pastries and similar foods. This is because the fat contained in this rich food is not easily absorbed due to your condition. You can still enjoy a good diet, with some of the delectable foods, if you make a conscious effort to use them judiciously with your diet.

Your diabetologist will be able to help you formulate a plan where you can adjust the changes along with the medication. Try to spread the word with your friends and family and educate them on the dangers of contracting problems with low blood sugar especially if they are prone to diabetes.
